Hi, there are two things to understand here: this was a clear win for Kamala Harris, as underscored in the title and in the first paragraph. In this clear victory Trump didn't destroy himself: in this polarized context Donald Trump's voter wants to believe in "the big lie", wants to see his candidate spout lies such as immigrants are eating dogs and cats, wants Donald Trump to be Donald Trump. He did a terrible debate for an independent voter, but in my view, and in the view of many journalists much more credited than me, this performance wasn't something to knock off a campaign. Kamala Harris - in my personal view - is the favorite to win the White House but she's not more favorite today than yesterday. This is an analysis of the context, you can agree or disagree without any form of accusations of the work of other people.
The Biden debate, I wrote a piece on that debate too, was a problem of confidence with the voters, not a policy problem. For months Biden said he was ready to campaign, and yet he wasn't. The accountability requested for a dem candidate is not the same than the accountability that the MAGA world request to Trump. Even that is a fact. The Maga world doesn't care about Trump sayin' weird things about windmills and sharks, the dem corner panicked after Biden's debate. After the June debate Biden lost dem support, after this debate Trump won't lose a vote in his core support. That makes this debate a clear win for Kamala Harris, but not a substantial debate in the history of this campaign. That is my opinion, and I think it's pretty objective; even that, you can obviously disagree.
